The download of the OSS and NON-OSS repositories is very long, same holds for creating ZYPP cache. But YaST module on the running system does not show any popups informing about the current progress.

Yes, that's true.
But they are pkg callbacks.
I have no clue why it works in inst-sys but not in on a running system.

Ah, my fault :) I have to initialize those package callbacks ... somehow ;) :)
