yast network cards

My ipw2200 wireless card is displayed with the name of the wired network card.
Nevertheless, the wireless card works correctly.

See screenshot attached.

IMHO this is not a bug.
Joachim? Configuration name is given from "device name" given by driver/udev

Sorry? How can it not be a bug if YaST is mixing the network card names?!
If I remove the wireless card, then its name appears correctly so... this is a bug.
Comment 7 Joachim Gleissner 2007-09-12 09:39:43 UTC
So it's only displayed incorrectly when the device is configured? Could you attach 'hwinfo --netcard' ('hwinfo --network' isn't very useful in that case)?
Comment 8 Ludwig Nussel 2007-09-12 10:03:32 UTC
duplicate bug 308611 contains hwinfo --netcard

hwinfo --netcard

Joachim, no. It's displayed incorrectly by default (from installation), whether configured or not. Only if you press the delete button it's display correctly.

Did a fresh installation with no ipw-firmware installed. Later, on the running system, I've performed the installation of it and YaST displayed the wireless card name correclty. So, this bug only happens if you install the ipw-firmware package during the system installation, I think...
Comment 10 Joachim Gleissner 2007-09-12 10:45:52 UTC
When the firmware is not installed, hwinfo cannot query the features of the device, hence some information is missng. Apart from that, hwinfo output looks fine, it shows the correct name and indicates WLAN. So it must be a YaST issue.

Fixed on 10.3 RC1.
