This bug is too similar to bug #298943 because it has the exactly the same symptoms but in this case "XDG_SESSION_COOKIE" is set in /etc/sudoers.

Plugging an USB sticker automount doesn't work. Suspend to disk/ram neither ("User is not allowed for hal-power-suspend according to PolicyKit.").

Was/is autologin enabled?

Help it if you disable autologin, reboot (may also simply logout work), and login manually?

sounds to me as a duplicate of #309171, if disable autologin not help: please reopen the bug
