During the boot right after installation, Nautilus complains that Desktop doesn't exist and it can't create it and then refuses to load.  There's a regular file ~/Desktop which is preventing Nautilus from creating a directory with the same name.

I'll attach the Desktop regular file which caused the failure.

Here's the original Desktop file.  Had to compress as firefox or nautilus refuses to select the file.
