Description Nikolay Paskov 2007-09-22 17:19:20 UTC
When updating to the latest gdm 2.20.0-4 the upgrade process failed due to no installable providers. The full output from zypper is

Problem: atom:gdm cannot be installed due to missing dependencies
There are no installable providers of gdm >= 2.20.0-4 for atom:gdm-2.20.0-4.i586[http://download.opensuse.org/update/10.3]

    atom:gdm-2.20.0-4.i586[http://download.opensuse.org/update/10.3] is needed by patch:gdm-4388-0.noarch[http://download.opensuse.org/update/10.3] (gdm == 2.20.0-4)
gdm-2.20.0-4.i586[http://download.opensuse.org/update/10.3] provides gdm == 2.20.0-4, but it is uninstallable. Try installing it on its own for more details.

Solution 1: do not install gdm
  do not install atom:gdm-2.20.0-4.i586[http://download.opensuse.org/update/10.3]
Solution 2: Ignore this requirement just here

I presume this is just a temporary syncing glitch, but just in case.
Comment 2 Stephan Kulow 2007-09-22 20:47:44 UTC
I assume the patch is built against Factory
Comment 3 Stephan Kulow 2007-09-22 20:52:27 UTC
hmm, gdm-2.20.0-4 is there, so this is possibly a real bug (unless of course JP's theory is correct, but then it would be a process bug :).

JP, can you reproduce it?
Comment 4 Marcus Meissner 2007-09-22 21:21:17 UTC
I guess it is a dependend library wiuth new major version, since I did not pull in any other GNOME 2.20 package.

So, now which one is it...

JPR, is gdm-lang installed?

so should I have released gdm-lang with it?
Comment 6 Marcus Meissner 2007-09-22 21:30:49 UTC
This version update will require releasing all bundle-lang-gnome-* packages.

Oops.

Rudi, can we just retract it for now?
Comment 7 Ruediger Oertel 2007-09-22 21:52:53 UTC
gdm patch removed.
