OK, I already read about removal of samba packages, incorporating cifs (that does not work) -- I don't agree with this decision, but I so many tried to convince you to include it, and they failed so I stop here.

However, crippling the system is one thing, and hidding this is another story. So please provide fake samba packages. I mean I should be able to execute for example:
smbmount ....
and get:
We are sorry, smbfs is not supported in opensuse. For further details please visit.... (*)

I hope it is 100% understandable -- struggling with cifs took my 2 weeks to finally get the conclusion that it does not work and it will not work, after that I installed smbfs and kernel from alternate repo, and the rest took me 10 seconds maybe. So it would be at least a nice gesture to all opensuse user who use samba.

(*) of course this page should inform how to use UNSUPPORTED smbfs, and not to encourage to use cifs

smbfs is deprecated/gone since SUSE Linux 10.1 and smbfs was always marked as UNSUPPORTED in the kernel.

If you find bugs you should report them and switch back to the unsupported/deprecated smbfs module.

man mount.cifs provides all needed informations about mounting CIFS shares.
