Could you check of #328486 applies to you, i.e. that using the rpm package from https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=328486#c23 fixes your problem. Yes, installing it with rpm --force makes vmplayer run again and makes me happy :-) So the problem was glibc-32bit. The link was wrong, though: should be ftp.suse.com, not ftp.suse.de.
