Description Benjamin Kramer 2007-11-05 20:16:25 UTC
Hi,

I have a LenovoT61, and want to use the fingerprint.
The fingerprint works perfect at the console (STRG+ALT+F1), but not on KDE (incl. KDM).
I am not able to login via KDM, YAST or to the Screensaver. Nothing happens, I have to use my password to login.

IIRC there is no KDE support yet?
Comment 2 Timo Hoenig 2007-11-27 09:58:38 UTC
Right, there KDE is missing support for PAM modules like pam_thinkfinger. There's nothing I can do about it.

Stephan, if the KDE team is going to fix this, please contact me as there are upcoming changes for fingerprint reader support.

any chance of test hardware?

You can fetch hardware here from us, we have enough :)
Comment 6 Dirk Mueller 2008-03-14 14:50:54 UTC
forwardport for KDM4 coming for 11.0.
Comment 7 Carlos Lange 2008-04-10 18:17:33 UTC
Can we have backport to 10.3?
Comment 8 Timo Hoenig 2008-05-19 09:20:45 UTC
Dirk, I've submitted kdebase3 +kpamgreeter.diff + use-pam-before-classic.diff to STABLE.

With kdmrc:PluginsLogin=pam it is now possible to login using the fingerprint reader, however locking the screen fails: 'Will not lock session, as unlocking would be impossible: No appropriate greeter plugin configured'.
Comment 10 Benjamin Kramer 2008-06-05 22:43:23 UTC
Will the fingerprint authentication work in the kdm (KDE4) or screensaver(KDE4) on the new OpenSuse 11? It would also nice when I can see my fingerprint after authentication on the screen like on windows.

Thx for your work
Comment 11 Petr Baudis 2008-06-30 08:46:50 UTC
Unlocking the screen in KDE3 still fails using the fingerprint.
