Description Forgotten User 5bOUleMVRM 2007-11-23 19:42:53 UTC
I wanted to do a fresh install with / on a software raid. Creation of the raid1 within YaST was easy and straightforward.

I was a little astonished that after defining the raid as root device grub was still selected by default as boot loader, but gave it a try. Copying of files started, but when it was finished I was prompted to put a floppy into the drive to get the boot sector written.

Unfortunately my computer has no floppy drive and even if it had, I would not want to boot from a floppy each time. So I had to start the installation all over trying lilo. An early warning that a floppy drive is required for the selected configuration would have been a great help.

Hint is good and if no floppy is detected even a error message.
