Description Alvar Valls 2007-11-23 23:29:50 UTC
I have 2 multifunction HP printers: PSC 2110 and PSC 1510.

They print fine. And I can do multiple print requests in a row.

They also scan fine. And I can do multiple scans in a row.

But if I scan something, and then try to print something, the printer "hangs" and nothing will print.
With PSC 2110, the solution is to cycle the power on the printer after scanning. Print jobs go into the print queue and just sit there. Once I cycle to power on the printer, the stuff in the print queue (with no other intervention on my part) starts printing.

In the case of PSC 2510 though, that is not enough. I need to go to Yast, delete the printer and set it up all over again.

I guess your print queues are set up with the "usb" backend
instead of the "hp" backend. In this case bug #184825 happens
because there is a low-level usblp <-> usbfs/libusb conflict.

Usually the easiest way to set up the print queues with the
"hp" backend is to set up the print queues with "hp-setup"
(run it as root).

For background information regarding the CUPS backends
(e.g. why and when print queues become "disabled"), see our
documentation (e.g. package opensuse-manual_en) or
