Description Bryce Nesbitt 2007-12-13 06:37:15 UTC
1. I add a new printer of type LPD.
2. I give an IP address, and queue name, press next.
3. I get back to the main screen, but note the "Model" is set to "unknown".
4. I click edit, and select a model or PPD (e.g. Brother HL 1440N Postscript).
5. Observe the model is selected, and maybe even test prints work.

6. I then try to change my mind about the model, but there is no way (Edit now takes me somewhere different).

7. I exit YaST2, and get back in. My Model selection or PPD selection has been forgotten.

8. I can manually copy a .ppd file into /etc/cups/ppd to fix the above situation.

-------------
YaST works properly for USB and SMB printers, but not for LPD printers. It was broken in SUSE 10.2 also, in the same way.

-----------
It would be great if YaST would have a debug mode, where it documents what files it is writing to. That way i could more easily double-check it's work.

Yast is logging events into logfiles (y2logs). Please attach them.

Please try the given steps -- they fail every time, and have on SUSE 10.1, 10.2 and 10.3. YaST logs attached, but note they show a separate issue with online update having some issue quitting.

Could you possibly test last Beta + yast2-printer package from factory and report status? It's fixed already, just to be sure
