Description Chema Ollés 2007-12-19 22:53:35 UTC
Hi.I just update my system now and I can't run certain progs like gkrellm.
I see this message:
(gkrellm:5098): Pango-CRITICAL **: No modules found:
No builtin or dynamically loaded modules were found.
PangoFc will not work correctly.
This probably means there was an error in the creation of:
  '/etc/pango/pango.modules'
You should create this file by running:
  pango-querymodules > '/etc/pango/pango.modules'

(gkrellm:5098): Pango-WARNING **: failed to find shape engine, expect ugly output. engine-type='PangoRenderFc', script='latin'

(gkrellm:5098): Pango-WARNING **: failed to find shape engine, expect ugly output. engine-type='PangoRenderFc', script='common'
Well I run pango-querymodules > '/etc/pango/pango.modules' and the problem continue...
Any idea?
Regards

I'm sorry.I forgot to say that that file (/etc/pango/pango.modules) actually exists.
Bye

Did you run "pango-querymodules > '/etc/pango/pango.modules'" as root or as a non-root user? I would not expect non-root users to be able to write to that file.

Also, it might be useful for debugging purposes to attach the current (broken) version of that file. If it's currently empty, just noting that should be sufficient.
Comment 3 Chema Ollés 2007-12-20 15:45:36 UTC
Yes I do it as root...I think that I think that otherwise I am not have permission to write on /etc
Well this is all pango packs I have now:
pango-1.19.2-2
pango-devel-1.19.2-2
And one thing more.Really the problem is not that pango-querymodules can't write
pango.modules,I'm sorry if I not having explain well at the begining, the problem is pango can't read thisfile, because the file is there, like I said on second mail.
Regards
