Description Jörg Hermsdorf 2008-01-26 13:52:35 UTC
I did an openSUSE 11.0 Alpha 1 "Minimal Graphical System" install to assure, that no KDE 3 packages are installed. Next I added the KDE4-Factory Repository and installed KDE4. Next I started the Yast2 /etc/sysconfig-Editor to change "Desktop/Display manager DISPLAYMANAGER" from "xdm" to "kdm".

But if I reboot or switch to runlevel 5 now, xdm is still started instead of kdm (version 4.0). If I kill xdm and start kdm from the console, kdm 4.0 starts up nice and I can login to KDE4.

One thing I noticed is, that there is no rc-script (rckdm start/stop/restart) for kdm 4.0, yet. May this be the problem?

Sounds like a dupe which just got fixed. :-)
