Description Forgotten User 6Bw0Ifx-X6 2008-01-27 13:03:54 UTC
Hello,

Here is the message when trying to configure sound under yast2 :
__________
An error occurred during the installation of
SB Live! EMU10K1
The kernel module snd-emu10k1 for sound support could not be loaded.
This can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO
or IRQ parameters

I just installed rc7 and then upgraded to rc8 both get the above message. I am using a SBLive card. It works fine under 10.2 and 10.3. I get exact same error as above.

When I look at /etc/modeprobe.d there are no sound entries. I went thru YaSt2 to try and install and thats where I get the above error message.

I get the same error too on my ThinkPad T60p saying that the module snd_hda_intel could not be loaded. This is not true, the module is already loaded and if I use alsamixer to raise up the PCM and Master Volume Levels, the sound on my system works fine. So the problem is only, that the soundcard can't be configured with YaST2.

Indeed, after enabling volumes the sound on system works fine.
So I guess it must not be a driver/kernel problem but a configuration/yast problem

Can you please attach YaST logs for YaST developers, see http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs/YaST ?
Thanks!

Now it's OK with alpha2.
Just the volumes need to be set correctly in kmix
Comment 8 Ladislav Slezák 2008-03-07 15:32:37 UTC
Please, provide yast logs from alpha2.
Comment 9 Jörg Hermsdorf 2008-03-23 14:02:24 UTC
It's working for me now with Alpha3.
