It happened again.

And no kernel 2.6.22.18 available.

I don know who takes care about the nvidia repo, but is it so hard to wait the new kernel??

I just have dozens of clients with no graphical interface just because someone can't wait to upload a package to the ftp?

The older nvidia driver packages should be kept in the repo until the new kernel is released.  It would solve this stupid problem...

No, the X server is not working on these machines.
I can send you the /var/log/Xorg.0.log  but is it suposed to work on a different kernel version? 

All of these machines have a GForce 6200 (NV44A).
Didn't have time to check if this problem occur on different video cards.

I guess something went wrong here:
Bug 357366 has been marked as duplicate of this bug but it is due to wrong
kernel version - It is built on kernel 2.6.22.18 that was not released yet.

I do not have any of the symptons above.  The only problem is that the X server
do not work with this kernel module.  I do not have any decrease in
performance.  The X server just don't start.

The problem occur on OpenSuse 10.3 on all machines that have a Geforce 6200
(0x0221). And this gpu is officially supported by the latest driver:

I guess bug 357366 this has nothing to do with 390272.

well, the 2.6.22.18 kernel is still in our internal QA.

however I thought the KMP handling would cope with a module even wiuth a newer kernel version.

Well, the machines only start the X server with the nv driver now...
I can try to install the driver with the nvidia installer program later to confirm that is a problem with the package built for 2.6.22.18.

This has nothing to do with any kernel change. The support for this device has been intentionally removed from the kernel module, which is the reason why I closed it as duplicate of Bug #390272. For now you need to install the driver manually. I'm sorry.
