Tested on VMware ESX Server 3.0.2-62488:

Selecting the Firmware Test option on the initial dialog results in the test abending. GUI terminates, leaving you at the the text-based main menu.

Looks like the Firmware Test is allergic to my virtual environment.

This also happens on real machines.

In Alpha2 DVD the cause is a missing libpcre.so.0
I tried i586 and x86_64, both miss the library.
