Description Scott Couston 2008-02-15 03:49:09 UTC
Boot installation from DVD as normal>..........>When presented with installation type select 'Other">Next>select Repair> nothing happens and the past GUI repair tools no longer are accessible, visible nor functional in comparison to 10.2. If repair is chosen the best you can hope from is a console prompt.

While you are evaluating this issue please consider moving ALL GUI/X-term tools under the boot and repair current system, however this would present issues if this option boots the installation already on HDD hence all disk tools would become difficult to utilise as the HDD O/S mounts all partitions.
100% Re-producible.

Deemed major as a user with X-term skills is only left with 1 option to repair an existing installation - At best they can save their home directory but then need to perform a NEW installation and delete the previous one which may contain data that is not easily located and able to be backed up.
