Description Jiri Dluhos 2008-03-14 10:21:20 UTC
It seems that the screen saver does not start in KDE4; it works in testing mode when invoked from the control panel, but it does not kick in after the specified time of inactivity.

Which screensaver do you use?

Does the screen freeze when the screensaver would be activated, then when you move the mouse it returns to normal? I've noticed this with "Blank screen".

Sorry for the delay, I was doing something else and now I cannot reproduce it on my machine since the KDE4 updates got broken for me. I will, however, install OS11 on a different machine anyway so I will try it - please wait for a day or so.
Comment 6 Brandon Kruse 2008-05-01 20:32:20 UTC
@ comment 1, I can confirm this action. But when I move the mouse it makes me unlock the screen (which I enabled) If I run other screensavers it does the same screen.
Comment 7 Jiri Dluhos 2008-05-26 10:12:48 UTC
OK, I am able to reproduce it with KDE4, OS11 Beta3plus, with e.g. the Swarm screensaver (but I think it happens with any screensaver).
Comment 8 Steven Sforza 2008-07-17 15:49:44 UTC
Please note that this is not just a KDE thing - the screen saver also will not activate under GNOME.
Also, the screen lock does not work and is part of the same component.
Someone in the forum mentioned that they did a clean install and they are not having this issue, so it may only have something to do with the update version from 10.3 to 11.0?
Comment 9 Steven Sforza 2008-07-17 16:44:12 UTC
Additionally, just noticed this is indicating it applies to beta3 - the screen saver/lock not working issue is still present in the final 11.0 release.
