commands entered and console and trace output

hald service fails on boot

Start via YAST -> runlevel-editor results in "unspecified error"

Start manual with strace (see commands.txt), for output see console.txt and strace_log.*

The last device mentioned in the console output is "sysfs_path=/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:00.0"
which is the "82P965/G965 Memory Controller Hub".
For this device please have a look at "Hardware-PCI.jpeg" and an extract of harware information in hardware.txt

OS: opensuse 11.0 alpha3

kernel:
original kernel of opensuse 11.0 alpha3 and (updated)
2.6.25-rc6-git5-10-default

Mainboard: Asus P5B Deluxe / WiFi AP
Chipset: Intel P965
CPU: Intel E6600 Core 2 Dual
Memory: 4 GB

There is no AGP on this board

I can confirm this bug on Asus A8N-SLI motherboard , but it's using
different memory controller:
00:00.0 Memory controller: nVidia Corporation CK804 Memory Controller (rev a3)

Software:
openSuse Alpha 3 X86_64
hal-0.5.10_git20080319-4
kernel 2.6.25-rc6-git5-10-default
cpu: Amd
Memory 2Gb

last lines from my "console.txt" are:
17:28:56.641 [I] hotplug.c:138: /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:00.0 is a device (subsystem)
17:28:56.641 [I] device.c:4306: add_dev: subsys=pci sysfs_path=/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:00.0 dev= parent_dev=0x00000000
17:28:56.644 [W] device_info.c:1109: Unhandled rule (1316)!
Comment 2 Claes Backstrom 2008-03-30 15:38:11 UTC
I can also confirm this bug on an HP Compaq 8510w laptop and it uses this memory controller:
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile PM965/GM965/GL960 Memory Controller Hub (rev 0c)

Same Software as Comment 1 but with an Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU and 4 GB Memory

Last output:
17:29:47.075 [I] coldplug.c:307: new event (no dev node) '/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:00.0'
17:29:47.075 [I] hotplug.c:138: /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:00.0 is a device (subsystem)
17:29:47.075 [I] device.c:4306: add_dev: subsys=pci sysfs_path=/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:00.0 dev= parent_dev=0x00000000
17:29:47.078 [W] device_info.c:1109: Unhandled rule (1316)!

With the latest updates from factory (Mon Mar 31) this is no longer a problem for me.

hal-0.5.10_git20080319-6
kernel-default-2.6.25-rc7.git2.11
Comment 4 Forgotten User G4y76QHoDj 2008-03-31 17:12:55 UTC
