The same is for classic /etc/password system. If you say yes it truncates the password and when you want to login you need your original password, not truncated. The encryption method was available. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 371147 *** The dup of bug 371147 is only about the truncation of the password. But there is another problem, when selecting Windows authentication for users, I still can not set the encryption method for local users, like root. Then please attach y2logs. If you are in doubt follow: http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs/YaST Thanks! Cyril, When I select Windows authentication, the radio button selection for encryption method can not be changed. So, I'm little bit confused as what y2logs you need, i.e. at which point of time - when selecting windows authentication, when actually I pass after the step of setting it, or after the installation is finished? Please, let me know, and I'll perform a clean install and provide what's necessary. Thanks. Svetoslav, please provide the yast logs after installation. This should be sufficient to dig into the problem. The following is only about what made bug #371147 a dup of this (i.e. nothing to do with Windows authentication as is the case for 371147). During install of 11.0 Beta 1: * At Preparation, User Settings - Enter a user name - Type a long password (> 8 chars) - Uncheck the option to use it as the root password - Next - Enter a long root password (> 8 characters) A message box appears saying it's too long do you want to truncate it (as in most of the dups and this bug). Obviously there's nothing new in that but, if you say Yes to truncate the password then no truncation happens. The full > 8 characters version of the root password works after the install completes. Truncation of dots on setup screen happen, but when one try to login with only 8 characters it doesn't work. It has to be full length password as it was entered. Today I'll do clean install of B1 and I'll have clean yast2 logs to attach. Please reopen the bug if you can provide the needed information, thanks. In Beta 3 this works as expected. It seems that RESOVED FIXED is better description. it works in RC1 |
