Description Lars Müller 2008-04-09 20:55:10 UTC
While using kitchensync to get the data from a Noka E51 to kontact I mentioned several times messed up umlauts in the names of my contacts.

Can you please provide trace files? See [1] for more information. Please note that I need the complete traces which contain sensitive information (names, phone numbers, etc). If you don't want to post them here I can visit you in your office and we can try to figure out what's going wrong.

Btw: please keep in mind that opensync is alpha software and can cause data loss.

I'm currently out of the office. I'll give you a call as soon as I'm back.
Comment 4 Christopher Stender 2008-04-10 18:20:18 UTC
Okay. Maybe you can also try the OpenSync-svn repository in osbs. I found some information about the E51 and it seems that there are some known problems [0], [1]. [2].

Comment 5 Lars Müller 2008-04-10 20:59:36 UTC
Is there a way to get kitchensync which uses libopensync-plugin-file-0.36 as available in the build service?

Or is this a very stupid idea to try 0.36 instead of the version from the 0.2x repo?
Comment 6 Lars Müller 2008-04-10 21:03:15 UTC
Switching to SyncML version 1.1 helped a bit. At least the progress bar had been bigger.

Till now I only used USB to sync as I expected this is less hazel than bluetooth.

Tomorrow I'll check if the used firmware of the phone is the latest.
Comment 7 Christopher Stender 2008-04-11 15:07:36 UTC
Well, the syncml part should be much more better in OpenSync-svn. Nevertheless there are still a few problems, but working on them makes more sense than fixing bugs in old software. AFAIK there is only a KDE4 Kitchensync version which use 0.36. Maybe dgollub knows more about it.
Comment 8 Daniel Gollub 2008-04-22 12:23:19 UTC
You should address the issue in OpenSync 0.22 since there will be NO stable/major OpenSync release in time for openSUSE 11.0

Anyway, the bug sounds to me your mixing issues of libsyncml with issue of OpenSync.
Comment 9 Christopher Stender 2008-04-22 15:47:04 UTC
There are two issues with the E51. The first one is related to libsyncml and the other one seems to be a vformat bug. I will try to debug that with Lars as soon as he is back in office. The needinfo is just a reminder.
Comment 10 Radomír Černoch 2008-06-15 09:59:23 UTC
I am experiencing the same trouble with Nokia 6230i and Czech alphabet. The issue has occured on openSUSE 11.0 with

libsyncml0-0.4.4-96
libopensync-0.22-113
Comment 11 Christopher Stender 2008-06-20 11:36:58 UTC
Because this bug is a mixture of two problems I'm closing it as a duplicate of #382959.
