And finally there is a nice set of upstream cosmos images in gnome-screensaver, which may be available for background selector: /usr/share/pixmaps/backgrounds/cosmos They also may be moved to optional package to make basic part of the package smaller. Any thoughts on this Jakub? I think in general most of this can go. The photos are great, but too dark or contrasty to be good wallpapers. Thumbs down. Jakub, are you talking about cosmos set (/usr/share/pixmaps/backgrounds/cosmos), Nature Series (/usr/share/pixmaps/backgrounds/novell/photos) or Set of miscelaneous wallpapers (/usr/share/pixmaps/backgrounds/novell) - nature, abstract, geometry, sky? /usr/share/pixmaps/backgrounds/cosmos - Not good for wallpapers. /usr/share/pixmaps/backgrounds/novell/photos - Good supplementary wallpapers /usr/share/pixmaps/backgrounds/novell - I would drop these, only because they have been shipping for ages. Some don't sho their age, so if you think we don't provide enough extras, I suggest keeping these: blueblobs2.png, Clouds.jpeg, Curvy2.png, (In reply to comment #0 from Stanislav Brabec) > gnome-themes still contains major part of ximian-artwork package. It increases > size of the minimal GNOME installation for about 6MB. > > These files should be reviewed, moved to related branding package, updated or > dropped > > tarball ximian-artwork-0.6.3 (gnome-themes and gtk-engines, 2006): > > directory: galeon > status: obsolete, not packaged any more > Ximian Galeon theme. Agreed, drop. > directory: gdm > status: undecided > Novell Industrial Login Manager theme > > directory: gnome-session > status: probably obsolete, but still in the default installation > Novell Linux Desktop and Ximian Desktop 2 splash screens Agreed, drop. > directory: gtk > status: partially obsolete > Industrial theme. gtk2 version is now part of gtk2-engines, gtk1 part is still > part of gtk-engines (the whole tarball is used in the sources). Not sure. > directory: icons > status: probably obsolete, but still in the default installation > Miscelaneous icons. icons with Ximian brand, icons with Novell Linux Desktop > brand Should all be dropped, i think tango generally obsoleted everything here. > directory: icons/Industrial > status: undecided > Industrial icon theme. I think this needs to be kept, I believe Jakub has us default to Industrial icons with is tango + tweaks. > directory: metacity > status: undecided > Industrial metatheme XML file Probably can be dropped. > directory: nautilus > status: undecided > Large set of icons: Ximian brand icons, GNOME brand icons, MIME type icons etc. Not sure. > directory: nautilus/patterns > status: probably obsolete, but still in the default installation > Ximian brand background patterns Not sure. > directory: nautilus/throbber > status: undecided > Rotating bubbles animation. Not sures. > directory: xmms > status: obsolere > Industrial XMMS theme. May be stuff for OBS GNOME:GNOME1. Yes, drop. > tarball spheres-and-crystals-0.7 (gnome-themes, 2003): > status: undecided > SphereCrystal theme for metacity, gtk2, icon theme and tiger.svg background Not sure > gtk-engines-cleanice-2.4.0 (gtk2-engines, 2005): > status: undecided > Cleanice gtk2 engine. split to gtk-engines2-cleanice and move to G:C > tarball bluebubble (gtk2-themes, 2002): > status: undecided > BlueBubble gtk2 theme. Drop. > And finally, these gtk1 engines are still maintained: > Clean (2000) > ColorStep (2000) > Industrial (2006) > Mac2 (2000) > NewPsychicAbilities (2000) > Step (1999) > XenoThin (2000) > Xenophilia (2000) > > And these gtk1 engines as part of the official gtk-engines-0.12 set (2001): > Metal > Notif > Pixmap > Raleigh > Redmond95 Not sure - probably move all of this to G:GNOME1 Other opinions Jakub? > Industrial gtk theme. drop. >icons drop, except for the Industrial icon theme, which should remain default (inherits from tango-icon-theme). > industrial metacity theme Maybe we could keep that one around. There's a lack of decent metacity themes and this one is old, but still pretty good... > nautilus, nautilus/patterns, nautilus/throbber, drop, obsolete. > SphereCrystal/* I very much dislike that theme, but maybe it's good to keep the alternative for people with no taste :) > gtk1 stuff I'm not sure either. I honestly don't recall any gtk1 using app right now. I won't miss these. Filling drop request for gtk-engines: Look and feel for deprecated GTK1 applications is an optional add-on. It is not tested and un maintained since 2001. Moved to the Build Service GNOME:GNOME1. gtk2-engine-cleanice split out from gtk2-engines and moved to GNOME:Community. spheres-and-crystals split out from gnome-themes and moved to GNOME:Community. The rest of ximian-artwork will be disassembled and packages separately to not increase size of the minimal installation. To Jakub: I have separated Industrial metatheme from ximian-artwork and created a tarball: http://pack.suse.cz/sbrabec/bug380955/http://pack.suse.cz/sbrabec/bug380955/metatheme-industrial-0.6.4.tar.bz2 It would be nice to clean it a bit and make upsteam release. If I check it correctly, the review is complete, all files were either packaged separately, scheduled for dropping or moved to Build Service. Reassigning to Jakub to decide about metatheme-industrial release, eventually fix QA warnings. I'm sorry if I failed to mention to drop the Industrial cursor theme. It has been obsoleted by the DMZ cursor set. My apologies. I'm not exactly sure where do the icon warnings come from? None of the emblems ship with Industrial icon theme anymore. The purposeful incorrect emblem size was a workaround for gnome bug #267694. The latest Industrial icon theme is this one - ftp://forgeftp.novell.com/opensuse-art/openSUSE11/icons/industrial-icon-theme-11.0.5.tar.gz A request to package it has been filed as bug #369276 I'll replace the icon theme and drop cursor theme. It may be a good idea to release it altogether from a "compiled" tarball allowing to include translations. So we're done with this one, right? I think that yes: gtk2-metatheme-industrial: * Mon May 19 2008 sbrabec@suse.cz - Added latest Industrial icon theme (bnc#369276). * Wed May 14 2008 sbrabec@suse.cz - Split the Industrial metatheme out of gnome-themes and ximian-artwork (bnc#380955). gtk2-theme-openSUSE: * Tue May 20 2008 sbrabec@suse.cz - Industrial icon theme renamed to Gilouche and moved from gtk2-metatheme-industrial (bnc#369276#c9). |
