please make ImageInstallation.ycp honor a kernel command line parameter (via linuxrc or however such things work) to disable image based installation for debugging purposes.

Yes, I have it in my TODO already.
Installation Overview (proposal) was the place where I wanted to add it.

To disable it for now, just remove images/images.xml file (own inst-source).

- Client inst_prepare_image moved to installation proposal make
  disabling 'installation from images' easy (bnc #381234).

(actually it was i bit more than just moving some client to inst_proposal :))))
