Description Alexey Eremenko 2008-04-29 14:16:17 UTC
Tried to setup openSUSE 11.0 BETA1 (x86) from DVD on a computer.

I had to resize already existing partitions to make space.

I resized (shrinked) /dev/sda1 (which was formatted with ext3) from 125 GB to 95GB.
I had:
/dev/sda1
/dev/sda2
/dev/sda3
=======================================================================
After that I have:

linux:~ # fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sda: 164.6 GB, 164696555520 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 20023 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x00080634

   Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1               1       12534   100671322   83  Linux
/dev/sda2           19583       20023     3542332+  82  Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/sda3   *       16580       19582    24121566+  83  Linux
/dev/sda4           12534       16580    32499495    f  W95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/sda5           12534       16579    32499463+  83  Linux

Partition table entries are not in disk order
=======================================================================
The problem is, after Yast shrinked the partition, the setup FAILes giving me some strange error message.

The setup failed, so I had to reset my PC and rerun the setup.
This time, everything completed successfully.

please provide your full yast logs of the failed session. Otherwise we can't do anything about it.
Comment 2 Alexey Eremenko 2008-04-30 12:37:43 UTC
unfortunately I don't have the log files, since after the failure I "reset" my PC.
Comment 3 Stephan Kulow 2008-04-30 20:21:58 UTC
sorry, then there is little we can do. Please save such logs in future cases
