Description Andrew Horoszczak 2008-05-04 00:22:50 UTC
I had the same problem with beta1: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=382807

both GNOME & KDE4 in beta2
after decompressing kernel and starting it come to new screen titled:

Loading KIWI CD Boot-System...

----> including required kernel modules...

-----> Probing module: ata_piix
-----> Probing module: ehci-hdc
-----> Probing module: uhci-hcd

-----> Drive not ready yet ... waiting
-----> Drive not ready yet ... waiting
-----> Drive not ready yet ... waiting

-----> Failed to detect CD drive!
-----> reboot exception: error consoles at Alt-F3/F4

I have TWO SATA hard drives and SATA DVD-RW
the machine is fairly popular HP dx7300

does anybody have any suggestions what to try?

hmm, I am quite eager to take a look at Suse 11 ... but I guess the good things come to those that wait (-;

I have tried booting with
   hwprobe=-parallel,-misc.par

but no change, still the same problem
