Description Martin Schmidkunz 2008-05-08 20:53:17 UTC
I have several difficulties with the use of icons in the Software Management module:

1: Dublication of icons in pattern section
Icons are intended to guide the user's attention to a certain spot.
Using the same icon multiple times makes the icon meaningless and useless.

2: Too many icons
The most important thing in the software management is to see the status of the icon. Currently this column is hidden by the (meaningless) pattern icons on the left and some strange checkmark on the right.

3: What is the meaning of the grey checkmark right to the status column?

4: Icons in the icon legend in help are missing.

So my suggestion would be to get rid of the pattern icons and the grey check marks and to have just one column for the status.

no, the status is very unimportant in the pattern list.

So, it is more important to have the install/installed/remove information?

Is it a valid use case to update/taboo/downgrade every package in a pattern?
