Description Johannes Meixner 2008-05-09 06:56:59 UTC
There are several buttons in yast2-printer
for which nothing is implemented
(e.g. [Connection Wizard] and [Add Driver]).

For 11.0 simply remove those buttons.
Comment 1 Johannes Meixner 2008-05-09 07:57:20 UTC
Could perhaps the [Connection Wizard] button lead to
the usual workflow to choose the connection manually
(locally connected, network, ...)?

As far as I see there is no longer a way to add a PPD file
(either via "download" or via copy from local directory).
Could perhaps the [Add Driver] button lead to the old
workflow to add a PPD file?

I vote for using the old workflow and not just removing buttons.

Echoing comment #1 from above, I would hope that 11.0 will retain the option to use a ppd file from a local directory. Our office has a Konica Minolta BizHub 350 Network copier/printer. From the CD that came with the machine I use a ppd file that works perfectly. It enables me to print duplex if I want to, or us paper from any of the four trays.

I am testing 11.0 Beta 3, x86_64, installed from the DVD. Using Yast2 to install the printer, I specify network printer, print directly to printer, then try to use the Add Driver button. Nothing happens. I suppose the workaround would be to pick some other printer just to install some ppd file and then overwrite that file with the correct ppd file. It wasn't necessary to do that in 10.3

FYI:
The correct workaround is to copy the PPD file manually to
/usr/share/cups/model/ (or in any sub-directory therein).

There is new yast2-printer module which fixes most of the bugs. If this problem occurs in this version, please reopen bugreport.
