Description Forgotten User HNi0XMrMzY 2008-05-10 01:41:57 UTC
I run opensuse 10.3 on a tablet PC (Thinkpad X61). Opensuse automatically detected this and starts xvkbd together with kdm (very useful - users can use it to type the password). However, if autologin is on (e.g., in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager DISPLAYMANAGER_AUTOLOGIN is set to a valid username) xvkbd is not shut down after login. Since xvkbd is run by "root", a regular user cannot shut xvkbd down without providing the root password.

This is different if autologin is not on and users log in "manually". In this case, xvkbd is stopped after login.

This bug makes the autologin feature useless on tablet PCs.

This looks like a regression of bug 238604.
