pam is not able to identify the users (it reports e.g. "su: pam_wheel(su:auth): who is running me ?!") and therefore some security applications do not work as intented.

Check:
who does not show my konsole windows.

The culprit seems to be that konsole does not create utmp/wtmp entries - konsole from KDE3 did.
