This issue has been fixed for Beta3. Workaround for now is to use xdm, kdm3 or xdm as display manager instead of kdm4. *** Bug 389545 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** I installed Beta 3 and I'm still getting a freeze when I choose the logout option. Instead of my screen going black, it turns into a gray grid with five vertical columns of black segmented lines and the cursor disappears. I'm using the 2.6.25.3-2-default kernel with the Apple keyboard patch, nv driver and Geforce 8600GTS Unfortunately the fix is not included yet in Beta3, but fixed for RC1/Factory. # rpm --changelog -q kde4-kdm [...] * Di Mai 13 2008 dmueller@suse.de - kdm4: terminate local x servers by default (bnc#381672) [...] *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 381672 *** The latest changelog entry in Beta3 is * Fr Mai 09 2008 stbinner@suse.de - add Kontact/KDE4 instead of Kontact/KDE3 to Kickoff (bnc#386374) - fix potential Plasma crash after deleting plasmoids (bnc#386462) |
Created attachment 215277 [details] X.org log file with segfaults When I log out from X/KDE using the nv driver, the screen of my ThinkPad turns black. The Caps Lock does not change the status of the corresponding LED anymore. Trying to change to a different tty does not help. However, Ctrl Alt Del still reboots the computer. Initiating a reboot from KDE seems to work fine. But on each X exit, I get the following line in /var/log/messages: May 14 19:13:32 linux klogd: [ 1003.650931] klauncher[3489]: segfault at 8048844 ip b77273d8 sp bff There are some segfaults in the attached /var/log/Xorg.0.log, too. My gfx card is a nVidia Corporation Quadro NVS 140M rev 161.
