Description Casual J. Programmer 2008-05-20 21:40:26 UTC
After updating from factory today, booting will result in blank screen.

After some investigation it became clear, that the presence of an external disk shuffles the order of disks, thus boot tries to access the external disk rather than internal.

This worked perfectly until todays update.

Not sure what kind of information would be helpful, please advise.

As it turns out, it is simply a broken kernel, Kernel 2.6.25.4-2 fails with

BUG: Int14 CR2 1007C039

copying initrd, vmlinuz and /lib/modules for kernel 2.6.25.2-2 in place makes system bootable again.
