Description Mario Goppold 2008-05-21 16:53:45 UTC
After Factory-Update, incl. new kernel vmlinuz-2.6.25.4-2-default, I can not boot. Right after loading the kernel and initrd the system hangs:

[BOOTSCREEN BEGIN]
Filesystem type is xfs, partition type 0x83
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.25.4-2-default root=/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_WDC_WD2500BE
VE-_WD-WXE807A30658-part7 resume=/dev/sda5 splash=silent vga=normal
   [Linux-bzImage, setup=0x3000, size=0x2048a0]
initrd /initrd-2.6.25.4-2-default
   [Linux-initrd @ 0x37b5e000, 0x49142b bytes]

Probing EDD (odd=off to disable)... ok

Decompressing Linux... done.
Booting the kernel.

BUG: Int 14: CR2 1007c039
[/BOOTSCREEN END]

If I add the kernel boot parameter acpi=off the system starts up, but thats not a solution for a laptop.

I forgot to say: kernel-default-2.6.25.3-2 from Beta3 boots fine.
Comment 2 Rolf Offermanns 2008-05-22 08:19:20 UTC
Same here: Thinkpad T43p

Adding "acpi=off" makes it boot again for me. Try it.

I see the exact same "BUG:..." line, too.

Ah, and at first I did not have an initrd. The initrd-2.6.25.4-2-default was just not there and the initrd symlink was dangling. I booted the b3 live cd and used mkinitrd in a chroot.
