In a system clean installed & updated from factory searching for "xen" in search mode "contains" does not list kernel-xen, likewise entering "-" produces nothing.

Seems to be already fixed by fixing bug #394504.
From the latest RPM (yast2-qt-pkg) your bug is reproducible, but not from SVN.
