What URL do you mind? Which notebook do you have? I have a Dell Inspirin e1405. http://devblog.us/lshw.html I have the same error (not able to adjust brightness) with a HP Compaq 6910p. If I shutdown kpowersave the adjusting of brightness works fine. Same problem here on a Lenovo 3000 N200 0769-E8G, except that it doesn't matter if the machine is running on battery or from the AC-adaptor, the screen brightness resets about two seconds after the adjustment has been made. Adjusting works normally after closing kpowersave. Same here, dell d520. Both AC and battery modes are affected. I'm experiencing the same bug with HP 2510p. I'm experiencing the same bug with HP 2510p. The problem has changed recently for me. Rather than always resetting, it sometimes stays the same. However, if I start playing a video with SMplayer or a VirtualBox machine starts/enters X the brightness falls back to dim. Also, when I adjust the brightness my screen cycles through several levels of brightness before arriving at the new level, and sometimes hitting "brightness up" cycles back to a dimmer level. This problem exists on both battery and AC power. I can confirm that killing kpowersave resolves all issues. Please attach the output of lshal for the affected machines (except the HP 2510p, this machine is already fixed) Created attachment 245618 [details]

I switched to powerdevil. Have similar error: After wakeup brightness is reseted.
I've added the Dell Latitude D520, Dell Inspiron (e)1405, HP 6910p and the Lenovo 3000N200. Submitted patched package for YOU update, bnc#394390 stays as tracker until package released. You can test the upcomming package with the rpm from here: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/dkukawka/openSUSE_11.0/ |
