Sorry, I've added my comment to the other bug :-(
Regarding bug #393905 I wanted to clarify that in my case is a x86 and without open any other application than gnome.

I decided to test it on a VBOX also, and encountered the same issue.

So I started to play with the running process and found out that it could be closely related to beagled-helper.
As soon gnome started I opened the monitor, after a while beagled-helper 'eat' the cpu and the system froze.

So the next time, I killed beagled ASAP and all works just fine!
Removed beagled and restarted. The system is working.

I have to test it also on my test box (not virtualized), but I'm sure this is the cause.

BTW: Coolo, did you ask for info to Captain and forgot to cc him?

Mircea, can you confirm if removing beagled works for you?
Comment 7 JP Rosevear 2008-06-04 17:40:44 UTC
Are you using reiser?
Comment 8 Forgotten User nqeDWc8OMK 2008-06-04 18:05:14 UTC

So user_xattr are there. I've been unable to duplicate this in a VM with the live CD install. Trying a DVD install now.

Comment 13 Stephan Kulow 2008-06-05 05:37:48 UTC
Jeff, JP thinks this is only reproducible with reiserfs, can you please have a look?
