Description David Greengas 2008-06-04 15:55:07 UTC
When performing the first boot, the installer correctly identified that I had a usb HP Laserjet 1100 printer installed and prompted to download additional drivers. However, at this point, I was not connected to my wireless network (WPA2 Personal) network. I got an error that it could not install the packages at that time. It would have been a better experience overall if I was prompted to search for a wireless network and provide my key in order to connect before giving the error.

Otherwise my experience so far with OpenSUSE has been great. It is the best KDE 4.0 experience I have tried.

We are currently missing a concept for handle this case (need to install packages when network is not yet available).

Michal, we should at least detect this issue and display a senseful message to the user.

With first boot you mean first reboot (during installation) or next reboot, when installation is done?
Comment 3 David Greengas 2008-06-14 02:23:33 UTC
This was after installation was complete. It was the first setup while I created the first user account. I used the KDE 4 live-cd to do the initial install. Then during the first reboot, while creating the user accounts, the error occurred. It was before my first graphical login.

This should be fixed globally in PackageSystem
