Description Jeffrey Crane 2008-06-14 06:45:53 UTC
I have the biggest problem with this... I have reformatted 2 times and this occurs all the time. After two days of installation of Suse 10.3, I cannot access Yast, System Administrative programs at all, when i get asked for root password. I typed in the correct password and nothing else show a screen, I repeat it every time... trying different methods to see the problem resolved.

The only way i can access Yast or System Admin stuff is going through the terminal and it works only through that... which is a definably an annoyance, I can't access to add a new user if i wanted... because i cannot even log into yast

I can assume how it probably happens to get to that state, i think it has to do the community repositories, which when i want to download any packman reps, that's when i cannot get at all access to yast except through the terminal... but i do not if that's the case.

This bug i cannot seem to fix...

Any suggestions? Thank You.

Are you running KDE or Gnome desktop? Did you do any update before yast stopped to work?

BTW: you should get fully functional yast by running "sudo yast2" in terminal and then typing root password, this is not user friendly but it's nice workaround.
