Description Axel Braun 2008-06-25 05:02:53 UTC
I'm using a laptop (ThinkPad A30) with ethernet and a Cardbus WG511 card. Ethernet is not connected, and WLAN requires a firmware (whis is not delivered by opensuse 11 - ubuntu 8.04 does!).
Anyway, copied the firmware to /lib/firmware and used Yast to configure the network interface. After selecting the right driver (p54pci) I wanted to save the configuration, which was not possible, as suse wanted to connect to the update repository. Even when 'skipping' the request the wlan was not activated.
After disabling the online repositories I could configure WLAN.
So either online repositories should be enabled *after* network configuration, or the configuration should check for the online status
