Description Pavel Machek 2008-06-25 14:12:23 UTC
It works okay if I do that in text console (vga=0, or vga=0x314)... (modulo some flicker). I did enable 3d support and it works....

I did turn off 3d support in SaX, init 3, pressed lid button few times (ok), did init 5... strange, SaX indicates 3d disabled, but glxgears/gl-117 still work at reasonable speed.

Graphics cars is intel corporation 82852/855GM integrated graphics device.

Pressing LID button in X hangs the machine hard.

Hold on! Maybe with 11.0 it is different. Pavel, please have a look at bug 378917. Maybe echoing 0 into /proc/acpi/video/*/DOS also helps.

echo 1 into DOS indeed helps.

Yes, but watch out for lid button events afterwards: they become very erratic and the lid state is no longer updated, so something is still wrong somewhere.

Might be possible as workaround. Is there a subvendor/subdevice ID combination for the graphics chip ("hwinfo --gfxcard")?
