It does not happen with nm-applet, so it seems to be a knetworkmanager issue. Maybe the problem is, that there is no "hangup" button at all, and clicking on the connection again just tries to reopen the connection after closing it, which fails for some reason. Anyway => reassigning. Just committed a fix to SVN, patch at [1].
