Currently you still often see the old yast password dialog in suse, mostly (only?) if you start yast2 or a yast module. It would be much nicer if yast was policykit enabled. Not only would this allow showing the same dialog as for example PackageKit apps currently already use, but it would also allow to give yast usage permissions to users using the policy kit editor.

Having two different auth systems is certainly confusing, hopefully this can be fixed for openSUSE 11.1.

This shows the yast2 and policykit auth dialogs. As you see the policykit dialog is much nicer, and makes use of properly themed icons (yast dialog is missing a window icon and uses some old-style dialog icon). Also, the policykit dialig is integrated with the keyring.
