Description Bernhard Koenig 2008-07-07 19:25:19 UTC
Assume the system tray updater has not been used in a longer time (e.g. after startup), then it seems a bit unresponsive: if I right-click on the icon and go on "Check Now" then nothing happens (and says "No updates available"). Now I can click "Check Now" again and it suddenly starts "Checking for Updates..." (and may or may not find some).

So it is very often unresponsive after the first click on "Check Now" and only works after the second click. Don't know if anybody can confirm this problem.

I can confirm this.
Comment 2 Thomas Göttlicher 2008-07-24 08:40:43 UTC
Are you using gnome, kde3 or kde4?
Comment 3 Jörg Hermsdorf 2008-07-24 09:15:14 UTC
I experience this on KDE4!
Comment 4 Bernhard Koenig 2008-07-24 09:20:15 UTC
In my case, this was KDE 4.0.4. Let me add something to the original
description:

The first time you "Check Now", it might actually be checking for updates (but
not saying so while doing it). The second time you "Check Now", the two little
NW and SE arrows around the reptile disappear and the alert slider actually
confirms "Checking for updates".

The tray icon menu and the internal states in the updater applet have been improved while refactoring opensuseupdater. The improved application is called kde4-kupdateapplet.

As I can't reproduce the reported delay with kupdateapplet, I mark this bug as fixed.
