A default route seems to be required to get Host Networking (bridged) to work with VirtualBox.

Although this can be entered in the YAST2 network configuration, it does not always "stick".

To fix this, I have to enter the default route by hand and not use YAST.

This occurred in 10.3 as well. I currently have two network cards (eth0 and eth1) but it also happened under 10.3 when using only a single card.
