Description Szilárd András 2008-08-10 12:12:02 UTC
1. Setting up the wifi connection in Knetworkmanager in Yast seems to have no effect.

2. Using the green globe in the system tray works a little bit. I could connect once but never again! That time the speed was fine and I haven't experienced losing connectivity (which happens randomly in 10.3). It ran fine for about 13 hours straight. Then I lost connectivity. (My other wifi adapter hooked up to another PC running windows, different brand and model lost connection at the same time).

My ISP's APs "reset" every now end then. When that happens I can reconnect after a few seconds in windows. So the other PC reconnected fine.

I tried reconnecting but nothing happened. I deleted that connection and created a new one. After setting up my connection Wpa enterprise, peap mschapv2, IP, I hit "save and connect". All that seems to do is closing the menu, but it doesn't connect.
Clicking the now existent connection doesn't help either. It doesn't even try to connect most of the time.
Editing the connection shows that Knetworkmanager remembers every setting: wpa, passwords, IP, EXCEPT mschapv2. It's possible that this is the reason why it can't connect.

Cable connections work fine 'though.

Please try that again and attach /var/log/NetworkManager afterwards.

Please try that again and attach /var/log/NetworkManager afterwards.
While saving the network configuration Yast does its checklist and seems to try to downloading (it's refreshing repos) something during "activate network services" but it can not because the networks are about to be configured after that. I tried skipping the refresh but after the window just disappears without other errors but here's the file.

As you can see in the end I don't know how or why but it did connect this time using the little green knetworkmanager. I set up the connection again. The only thing I did differently this time is that I didn't tell it to use a static IP. So I'm sending this very happily while running openSUSE 11 :D

Comment 3 Szilárd András 2008-08-12 03:11:08 UTC
Unfortunately the connection lasted 3hours this time, but I managed to reproduce connecting to the channel using the green applet. I learned that it won't connect again unless I delete the connection then instead of "new connection", I click "edit connection"-> wlan and set it all up like that.

KNetworkManager for KDE3 is not maintained any longer. Therefore I resolve all bugs that are still open as WONTFIX without looking at each single bug report.
If this bug deals already with KDE4 and is still in progress, then please apologize the mistake and feel free to reopen it.
