Description Forgotten User 7pwnVrOCb1 2008-08-14 12:40:17 UTC
See in yast software installer, package search view (with factory sources):

yast shows packages without updates in BLACK
                     with updates in BLUE
older as avail. package in RED

That`s nice, but the new blue marked packages should have any new entries in changelog.

It`s seems, all new aval. rebuilds do trigger the blue output.
I think, that was not your intension.

--
It`s not only the color problem. If I do mark the available updates for
installation, the I do also get all blue lines downloaded and updated.

No, the description clear enough.I don`t want to fill your server with less helpfull default log answers (ok, you can see my installed package versions, but you don`t need it).

About the bug/problem:
It does only appear with beta products and/or factory repository and may be
       --------------------------------------------------
non-suse repositories as yast source, because nobody will sent/sync out a not
changed package to a update server for released products

Jiri, feel free to close my report if you want.
Comment 3 Forgotten User 7pwnVrOCb1 2008-08-19 21:38:08 UTC
Example:
  Yast QT Software Manager
   |->Package Search "yast"
       |-> Select all packages with never versions avail. into update mode
(there is a special submenue for such things)
              |-> Result: to much updates, because rebuild package has a higher
                  number on factory repository

I didn`t mean the YaST Updater(YOU) or YaST Factory Update tools.

Comment 4 Forgotten User 7pwnVrOCb1 2008-08-20 11:33:28 UTC
For example see package changelog of:

kdbg 2.1.0.85
now "updated" with upper yast menue to:
kdbg 2.1.0.87

Changelog View in YaST tells me (before and after "update"):

-cut-

  Mi 19 Dez 2007 13:00:00 CET
  stbinner@suse.de
  - update to final 2.1 version, only translation updates

-cut-

So, why does yast-qt show me this package in BLUE as newer version
an let me use
   Yast Software Manager,
                 Package Seach,
                    Package Menue,
                      All in this list
                      (DE: Alle in dieser Liste)
                         Reinstall, if newer version available
(DE: Aktualisieren, falls neuere Version verfügbar)

for nothing ;-)

Bruno, could you please also provide the logs requested?
Comment 6 Forgotten User 7pwnVrOCb1 2008-09-26 12:01:07 UTC
Sorry, I`ve no backup of this test.
Comment 7 Dave Plater 2008-09-30 10:39:13 UTC
Is this bug not caused by https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=430164
Comment 8 Forgotten User 7pwnVrOCb1 2008-10-02 20:47:08 UTC
No, because I`ve used old factory repositories. But my update/upgrade way is not the defined standard way.
Comment 9 Dave Plater 2008-10-03 09:19:25 UTC
Does this bug explain your problem:-

Comment 10 Forgotten User 7pwnVrOCb1 2008-10-06 18:14:01 UTC
Oh, I found out what was wrong. I did not see, that the available updates were for
different architecture :-(
Example from my x86_64 installation(YaST QT in "Version"-Package View")

                               Installed (Avaiable)
dbus-qt3-devel 0.62-165.72 0.62.165.76 listed in blue
                               (x86_64) (x86)

So you can close the bug entry, but may be you can add a explanation of coloring...
Comment 11 Thomas Göttlicher 2008-10-14 11:37:51 UTC
Thanks for figuring out the cause. Closing as invalid.
