Can you reproduce this with a newly created user? Does it exist with using only the blank screensaver? Is it specific to some screensaver? Is there some (semi-)reliable way to reproduce this problem? Sorry, yes this happens with any user and sorry it's with the blank screensaver only so far. It doesn't happen every time but I'd say 1-2 times in every 10. After reading the description again, are you saying that you can really see even things changing (e.g. if you have a web page with animations open, you can still see them moving while the screen is locked but the screensaver is broken)? Yes I believe so, I didn't try with animations but what it was was that I could see an msn message had come in in the background or something (it was a few weeks ago now). I'm trying to replicate with an animation open but can't get it to fault right now, however it faulted twice today on another machine during work. This is a long-standing problem with Kopete's message notification bubble. Can you have a look at it and let me know if it's a Kopete problem or if you have trouble reproducing it. Thanks, however while there may be a problem with Kopete, this is not the problem I am describing as it also happens on a machine where Kopete has never been used. What I'm saying is that the screensaver comes on but does not blank the screen, ie as if the screen was transparent. You wouldn't know the screensaver was on at all except for the fact that when you press a key or move the mouse a dialog pops up asking to enter a password to get out of the screensaver. So in other words, once pressing the lock button it is as if nothing has happened, though in fact 'technically' it is on. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 403135 *** |
