Description peter czanik 2008-08-21 06:13:22 UTC
Installation over ssh crashes early, even before yast2 could appear on screen.

Comment 1 peter czanik 2008-08-21 06:43:32 UTC
Well, it is not limited to ssh, the same problem is also on the console. It seems to crash on any PPC32 machines I have.
Comment 2 Martin Vidner 2008-08-27 11:20:07 UTC
Factory can be inconsistent. Please try with a well defined build, such as Alpha 2, and also try to get the y2logs.
Comment 3 peter czanik 2008-08-27 11:26:53 UTC
It was factory, which was released together with Alpha2. Factory PPC did not change ever since.

yast2 logs of early crash

This was created by booting the Alpha2 DVD and copying /var/log/Yast2/* to an accessible HDD partition after the crash.
Comment 5 Olaf Hering 2008-08-27 12:23:36 UTC
this could be related to bug #408808 if the error is caused by a SIGILL.
all 32bit is not useable unless it runs on a G5
Comment 6 Martin Vidner 2008-08-29 15:21:02 UTC
It is SIGILL. Peter is it a G5?
It seems to crash in yast2-qt. Can you try also text mode installation?
Comment 7 Stanislav Visnovsky 2008-09-17 08:54:03 UTC
Peter?
Comment 8 Stefan Hundhammer 2008-10-14 15:01:39 UTC
no feedback for 4 weeks
Comment 9 peter czanik 2008-10-14 15:13:39 UTC
Oops, sorry. It was a Pegasos (~G4). Beta2 worked fine.
