Description Forgotten User AO1_-eKXeh 2008-08-31 21:24:08 UTC
I wanted to bring to your attention that the drivers for my HP Photosmart 2575 are not available by default to YAST when configuring your printer. hplip needs to be manually installed and then all is well! I haven't come across this particular issue with other distros and wandered if it was an oversight! Many Thanks.

On my openSUSE 11.0 there is a PPD for the "photosmart 2570 series"
available under the model name "HP PhotoSmart 2570" and any
printer setup tool should show this model name.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
root@host# lpinfo -l -m | grep -i Photosmart | grep 2570
Model:
name = manufacturer-PPDs/hplip/hp-photosmart_2570_series-hpijs.ppd.gz
make-and-model = HP PhotoSmart 2570 Foomatic/hpijs, hpijs 2.8.4.2
device-id = MFG:HP;MDL:photosmart 2570 series;DES:photosmart 2570 series;
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Therefore I close it as "worksforme".

If there is no model "HP PhotoSmart 2570" in YaST or in any other
printer setup tool, it could be a duplicate of bug #388149.
