Since openSUSE-11.0, all "Cancel" buttons in YaST2 are translated to German with "Verwerfen". 

Every other GUI system in the world translates this with "Abbrechen" - KDE, GNOME, Windows, MacOS, you name it. "Abbrechen" is what German-language users know for that functionality - for the safe way out of a dialog. 

"Verwerfen" being so absolutely uncommon, it requires considerable brain activity before a user knows which button is the safe escape route. This is absolutely not desirable in this situation; this is supposed to be a safe and simple way out of a situation you'd rather not be in (being confronted with a dialog you feel uncomfortable with).

Why do we have to be incompatible with everybody else in the world?
Do you realize that this is part of what makes so many experienced users prefer the English version over the translated-to-death German version?


Of course I know this old discussion: It's hard to find a good differentiation between "Abort" (forcefully terminating the entire program) versus "Cancel". So now "Abort" got translated with "Abbrechen", and "Cancel" is "Verwerfen". 

This issue confuses experienced users and newbies alike (it considerably confused me, and I know all those YaST2 dialogs and what the buttons do).

 Please find a reasonable translation for "Abort" and restore the translation of "Cancel" with "Abbrechen". In the worst case, I'd even vote for "Abort" and "Cancel" _both_ being translated as "Abbrechen"; IMHO it's clear from the context what the difference is.

IMHO the only correct translation is "Abbrechen" as you mentioned before.

Concerning weird terms:
Is there a reason why we translate "Repository" with "Repositorium"?

In the beginning, it was "abrrechen", but than cancel and abort surfaced in the same dialog : bingo!  otherwise it is a dupe of bug 227392.

Unrelated, please open a separate report (FYI, the German translation team agreed to "translate" it to "Repository").
