on a Thinkpad R61
card type: thinkpad T61
driver: snd-hda-intel

calling yast sound -> Other -> Volume...

The fields for "PCM", "Mic" and "Beep" are 1 char wide "^"

All other fields are 5 char wide "v 90^"

qt interface is ok (yast2 sound)

the thinkpad was not available, so I took the screen shots from on a desktop computer (lenovo thinkcentre) - generic problem but specific fields vary
